Use Your Imagination
I grew up watching shows like The Twilight Zone and Are Your Afraid Of the Dark, which always ends up subconsciously inspires my fine art photography, so this image was certainly inspired by the vibe of those shows. I scrapped the original idea of a hand coming out of the tv, but, it just wasn’t coming out right.
The tv set was created with a carboard box and a wood decal, toped with some rabbit ear antennas that I bought from Amazon. The gaudy wallpaper behind me is just some old fabric that’s been stored in the closet for years.

I always like to add vintage touches, so I grabbed some vintage patterned fabric that I had laying around, and stuck it to my bathroom wall. I always enjoyed visuals that were happy and vintage with a creepy contrast, and that’s what I was trying to convey with the bloody hand.
Bella
My sweet black lab, Bella. This was the very last photo we took and she was over it. She’s sitting on a big plastic box that we use for backyard equipment; she claimed the box as her throne when she was 7 months.
Dorothy
Inspired by the Wizard of Oz of course, I created a twister in photoshop, then took the photo of my little niece, who was 8 at the time, and very impatient–she stood a distance away from the backyard shed. I took as many shots as I could before she ran away while maniacally laughing. It helped that it was overcast that day.
Sad Clown
This photo was featured in the honorable mentions section of the Photography Forums book. A site that is obsolete now, they would have an open competition every year. This was the last year I entered the content.

This photo was inspired by some of Alex Stoddard’s work. This was the perfect type of photo to build while being in a depressed mood.

One day, my parents had pulled out some of my old childhood toys. As my young niece was sifting through the treasure trove of classic toys, I noticed the Barbie shoes. I randomly grabbed one and put it on my finger–that’s how I came up with the idea for this photo.
The wall was created with a piece of a cardboard box, and some flowery fabric. I had the dollhouse door one hand, painted it white, and runaway with the idea. Do you remember Flickr Explore? Well after having an account on Flickr since 2011, and compulsively check whether or not my photos were featured on the Explore page, this photo was featured on the Explore page.
Boxed In
This was an idea that I had for a bit over 5 years. I collected carboard boxes for probably about a year, which wasn’t a difficult task since I compulsively by stuff on Amazon. I built a big box wall, lines the ground with brown package paper, created a box dog and snapped the shot.
The Joneses
An unconventional family partially made of cardboard. This is an example of the flavor of weird that I like to incorporate in my visual storytelling.

My older niece was presenting an individual musical recital while attending University. Each student had to make a poster for each of their recitals, and my neice recruted me. The musical composition Rhapsody in Blue written by George Gershwin is what I thought of for this photo, particularly, the visuals accompanied with the composition on the movie Fantasia 2000
The Absent Minded Computer Hacker Returns
This was the moment I realized how much I enjoyed building mini-sets for my photos. I adorned my wall and closet door with aluminum foil, built all of the props out of cardboard boxes, aluminum foil, a computer monitor, a lamp with a vintage light bulb, and Christmas lights, and ran away with the idea, as always. I recall being up late into the early morning knowing that I needed to get up early for the department store job I had at the time.
We Are Your Friends
As one should notice by now, there is always a good amount of Science Fiction incorporated in a chunk of my photos because I was a nerd and enjoyed watching old Sci-Fi shows and movies.

A lot of the things that I shoot are usually concepts that immediately pop in my mind at that moment; or I may see and item and think, “how can I conceptualize a photo around this item”. In this case, it was my dad’s model airplane.

I got the idea for this photo from Gulliver’s Travels. My old childhood toys were still available, so I ran away with it. I just laid blue poster board on my floor, grabbed my flashes and took the photo.
Untitled
More vintage inspiration. I usually see a fragment of something on a movie or show, and runaway with the idea. In this case, I may have been inspired by some of John Waters work. I built a small set in my sunroom using carboard boxes, fabric, and some props that I have laying around. Since the beginning of my fine art photography endeavors, I have always utilized the items that I already have on hand, or I’ll find some neat stuff in thrift stores.

Taken around the time when I discovered Gregory Crewdson’s work and tried to emulate.

This was photo was obviously inspired by the film It, the 2017 version to be exact. I had just seen the movie in the theater and I was overloaded with inspiration after seeing it because of how beautifully shot it was.
Untitled
This was, I’m pretty sure, inspired by one of the sequences of the Twilight Zone: The Movie. The incorporation of color contrast is something I always enjoy adding–especially to an image that has a creepy, yet quirky feel.
Awkward Imagination
My first honorable mention in the Photographer’s Forum book, this photo was actually a test shot, but ended up being the final product–a happy accident. It was July and hot! Not to mention, I doused myself in bug spray because I react severely to mosquitos. This was around the time I started incorporating smoke balls. I would go to the firework stands and buy a whole bunch.
The Watcher
This was another one of those instance where I saw the trees in the backyard, grabbed some of my random, available props and ran way with it. This is also the moment where I realized that I was allergic to the trees.
