Crony
2014 was the year when I really started experimenting as a fine art photographer. I’d see objects in the store and imagine what I could do with it artistically. In this case, it was a fix bowl. and instead of using a regular gold fish, I imagined a clown fish instead–an unlikely subject.
Conceal
This photo was me playing around with colors and light streaking through the trees. I’m pretty sure this was another instance of me being inspired by some of Alex Stoddard’s work.
They’re Everywhere
This is the perfect example of what little you can do to make a fun photo. Shot in 2012, I purchased a black poster board, fake cobwebs and spiders, used a simple static like, and shot the photo. This photo was the photo where I realized there are no limited in how much creativity can be produced in a photo.
Untitled, Part I
This was inspired by a 1961 movie called Whistle Down the Wind, this was the first time I used Photoshop as opposed to Gimp. It was cold, windy and creepy in my backyard that night.
Untitled, Part II
Part II of the photo that was inspired by the 1961 movie called Whistle Down the Wind.
Local Legend
The inspiration for this was drawn from the idea of a resident that never emerges from her home, surrounded by her prized possessions ( a clown fish and a red bird), she is known as a local legend by the towns people because she’s mostly a mystery.
Awkward Imagination
My first honorable mention in the Photographer’s Forum book, this photo was actually a test shot, but ended up being the final product–a happy accident. It was July and hot! Not to mention, I doused myself in bug spray because I react severely to mosquitos. This was around the time I started incorporating smoke balls. I would go to the firework stands and buy a whole bunch.
Untitled
This photo was inspired by some of Alex Stoddard’s work. This was the perfect type of photo to build while being in a depressed mood.
Untitled
This was taken when I was in a particularly depressed mood for a while.
Emergence
My take on Little Red Riding Hood if she was hiding for years in the woods, finally emerging years later. This is another example where I was starting to feel confident in my ability to be a fine art photographer.
Untitled
A filter was added to the lens to give a dream vibe. I wanted something cinematic, bright but yet uncomfortable–the way dreams can manifest. A quote from when I initially posted this photo on Flickr, “Peculiar dreams are a constant entity in my slumber.”
My teacher is an Alien
Inspired by a book from my childhood with the same name, I had a school desk and chair that I had picked up from a local thrift shop, wrapped some black posterboard around my bright bulb (not safe), and asked my niece to help me with the photo.
A Day in the Live
I had a cardboard box styled as a television set, this was a quick shot that I remember taking before my mom had arrived from work.
Uncharted Territory
Inspired by the works of Michel Gondry, I build a miniature set with fake foliage, cellophane, drawings and lots of hot glue, then composited myself in the shot.
